Gabrielle Lamplugh serves as Education Director at the David Mathews Center for Civic Life in Montevallo, Alabama. In her role, she works throughout the state’s 67 counties, equipping educators to develop active civic learning opportunities in their classrooms and communities. In addition to providing professional development, she works with scholars and historians to create place-based, deliberative learning resources that engage students in dialogue around difficult histories. She also coordinates the Jean O’Connor-Snyder Internship Program, an immersive civic learning experience created in partnership with colleges and universities throughout Alabama. She received a bachelor’s degree in English Literature with a minor in Community and Civic Engagement and a master’s degree in Communication, both from Auburn University.
